Accuracy and performance
brae reproduces OpenFOAM v2412's interFoam on one GPU, and reaches the same simulated time sooner.
The reference is OpenFOAM. The experiment is drawn on the charts as a reference curve.
- Case
- Dam break of Kleefsman et al. (2005), SPHERIC test 2
- Meshes
- 398,720 to 4,894,216 cells
- Simulated
- 6 s of flow
- brae
- 1 × NVIDIA H100 PCIe 80 GB and 1 CPU core
- OpenFOAM
- v2412 on 26 cores of an Intel Xeon Platinum 8480+
- Release
- interFoam shipped in release 0.5.0
- 11.9×
- Time to the same simulated time
- 4,894,216 cells, 6 s of flow: 28 min on one H100 against 5 h 37 min on 26 cores of a Xeon Platinum 8480+.
- 0.002%
- First impact pressure peak, brae against OpenFOAM, both converged
- Sensor P1, 4.89 M cells, pressure tolerance 1e-10 in both codes: 11,102.4 Pa and 11,102.2 Pa, in the same 356 time steps. At the case's own looser tolerance the answer depends on the linear solver in either code; see Agreement with OpenFOAM.

- OpenFOAM interFoam tutorials run
- Median velocity difference from serial OpenFOAM 1e-08 after 30 time steps, with each case's own linear solvers.
